    Hello :)

I tried following the steps, but it still doesn't work. The first time I did it, all the SID keys were without .bak. So I followed Step 10, and didn't work. When I tried redoing it, this time, one of the SID keys had a .bak extension, so I followed Step 12, but it still doesn't work. And I'm not sure what did I do wrong.

Here's what my Registry Editor looks like now:

And, I'm running Windows 10 using Mac's BootCamp.

    Many thanks in advance!

Hello @sakazaki4693, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Does your "C:\Users\Hang Chai" profile folder still contain all of your files?

I don't see that folder in your screenshot though. Is it the one named "Brink" now instead?

If so, rename it back to "Hang Chai" if you like, and repeat the steps in the tutorial.

    Thanks for your reply, Brink.

Unfortunately, all folders in C:/Users does not contain any files. They're just empty folders.

This temporary profile error happened as soon as I installed Windows 10 using Apple's BootCamp. Ever since then, I was unable to save anything (eg: I saved a Word doc onto my Desktop. The next day, when I turned my PC on, the file is gone).

I've also tried renaming the Brink folder to "Hang Chai" and redo the steps, still the problem persists. I've also noticed that the "TEMP.DESKTOP-#########.###" folders keep adding after I redo the steps.

Yeah, anything done while in a temporary profile will be lost when you sign out.

If none of the profile folders in the "C:\Users" folder contains your files, then it appears it's gone. You could create a new profile for your account to use instead though. To do this, delete all SID keys for that account. The next time you sign in, a new profile folder should be created for your account without it being a temp profile.

Quick question before I attempt to delete all SID keys:

    1. Will my installed programs be gone?

    2. I only need to delete the long SID key, am I right? How about the shorter ones like 'S-1-5-18, S-1-5-19, S-1-5-20'

    3. Do I need to manually delete all the folders in C:/Users ?

Q1) No, but any data/setting they saved in your user profile folder will be gone.

Q2) You would only want to delete the SID and SID w/.bak (if there) for only your account. You do not want to delete the SID keys for any other account.

Q3) Once you have successfully created a new profile for your account and are sure that none of the other folders in "C:\Users" contains your files, then you can safely delete any profile folder in "C:\Users" that no longer belong to any account on the PC. You would basically only want to delete the temp folders created for your account that are now no longer needed.
