    Hello njnitehawk, :)

Ultimately, it's usually caused by user profile corruption or incorrect profile path in the registry.

This can often happen if the profile folder was moved or renamed.

Hello Stanley, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Do you still have your user profile folder in the "C:\Users" folder?

Please go ahead and post a screenshot showing your registry for this to see if anything stands out. Usually, the SID key will have "1001" at the end for the account setup during the installation of Windows.

I still have my account on my laptop but it is not in the registry. Only User 2 and guest are there. My files are still on the laptop and can be found in the file explorer. Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10-2017_03_05_01_24_321.png

As a test, restart the computer one more time to see if you have an option to select to sign in to your account.

What you were seeing is the setup of the profile for the account when first signed in.

Double check the registry to see what it shows now.

Now it has something with my User in it and the computer name after a dot. I think it has the same last four digits it used to as well. Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10-2017_03_05_01_59_291.png

If the path is correct for your account in the ProfileImagePath value, then it may be fixed. You can restart the computer again to see if you are able to select your account to sign in to.
