    Thank you @farag. Option Two in the tutorial has been updated to correct for the new location. :)

    this was changed quite some time ago its

    [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeliveryOptimization\Settings]
    "DownloadMode"=dword:00000000
    "DownloadModeProvider"=dword:00000008

    Monitor there whilst changing it

    It has been broken for me for the longest time
    and whilst going through my registry tweaks today
    i had process monitor watch the registry for whats being modified

    Does anyone know what is the new registry location for "delivery optimization" under advanced section of Windows update on 2004 or 20H2?
    It's supposed to be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeliveryOptimization\Config\DODownloadM ode, but no matter what I select in the settings, the key remains to be set to 0 (the key was created by applying a .reg file with various registry tweaks I have accumulated).

    Hello mate,

    Check to see if option 2 below is still the same for you.

    I'm seeing the registry key below being used now.

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeliveryOptimization\Settings

    Nope, Microsoft changed something again as usual.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeliveryOptimization\Settings
    The Settings key is not present at all. There is Config, but no keys under that one.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeliveryOptimization\DODownloadMode controls the group policy, but I am looking for the registry key that the user setting is saved at. Actually I wouldn't mind all of the user-set WUpdate keys, because with automated image installation with regtweaks, there's no way to change any of the settings as they are greyed out.

    edit: Oh, ninja edit

    Yup, I got it. Thanks. I was searching for the wrong key. For some weird reason the user-set one is DownloadMode and not DODownloadMode. WTF.

    What are the users in the registry though, what do the ids correspond with?

    The S-1-5-20 SID is for the network service account. So it will most likely be the same key for everyone. I'll have to update the tutorial now for it after some testing to make sure.
