Uninstall Apps in Windows 10  

Now and forever I am the only person who will use this computer. I have an offline/local account that is an administrator account. However, I may in the future make an additional, standard user account for myself so I can switch between them. And I've never touched it, but Public is also listed under Users.

I want to wipe away all vestiges of the apps I uninstall, so which method would be appropriate in my circumstances?

I tried uninstalling some of the apps from the Apps & features menu, but they still appear on the apps and programs lists for All Users when I run them inside PowerShell.

I understand how to use Get-AppxPackage -name "appname" | Remove-AppxPackage, just unsure if I should be using that or Get-AppxPackage -allusers "appname" | Remove-AppxPackage in order to completely remove the apps from the PC. As I mentioned, "Public" (which will never be used) and I are the only user accounts on the machine, though I may add a standard user for myself at some point.

I opened the PowerShell as Administrator and entered the command string, first using the name of the package, and when that didn't work, entering the full name of the package, but neither worked to uninstall the app.

This is the command I used:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *Amazon.com.Amazon* | Remove-AppxPackage
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *Amazon.com.Amazon_2016.829.2800.0_x64_343d40qqvtj1t* | Remove-AppxPackage

The ones I uninstalled have disappeared from the Apps & features window, however they still appear when I run a list of installed apps in PowerShell and and their populated folders remain in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps.

I tried it for all the usual apps, like Microsoft.WindowsCamera. Often a message flashed across the top of the window after I it return, but it came and went so quickly I couldn't read it.

I'm running Win 10 v. 1709 right now. There have been no new Win updates since I tried the uninstalls yesterday, so Windows couldn't have put them back. (I'm unsure--Windows may not have stopped re-installing deleted Microsoft apps until v. 1803.)

Any suggestions? There are 28 apps I don't intend to use, however in aggregate they only take up a few MB of space. I've spent what amounts to a couple of full days trying various ways to uninstall them myself and with two third-party uninstall apps. I've always believed what I was told, that leaving unused programs on your PC can interfere with efficient processing and even lead to bugs in the system down the road. However, I've read advice in several recent articles that it's better to leave the Microsoft apps where they are, eliminate the tiles and icons so they don't annoy you, and just forget about it.

This seems very odd. . . what is the point of uninstalling an app if it leaves all of its files behind on my hard drive?? For instance, the Bing Weather app has left behind 88 folders and 322 files, 121 MB worth, including the .exe file, in its package folder. The reason I didn't use a third-party uninstaller software was because I thought doing it manually in PowerShell would clean every bit of the program off the hard drive.

Should I manually delete the folders and their contents from the WindowsApps folder? Is there anything else I need to do to find and clean up residual files?
