I learned not to screw around with Get-AppxPackage PowerShell junk anymore. I had apps corrupt that required a refresh so I only "uninstall apps" that have a uninstall button. I ignore apps that I can't remove like the Movie and Photos app I just don't use them instead using my own apps like MPC and MaxView.

Just wanted to let you know that Classic Shell 4.2.5 added an easy way to remove apps via right click -> Uninstall for a particular user account. It also lets you remove some of the built-in apps that the Windows 10 menu doesn't/can't remove. :)

Hm, I'll try that, but I'm not using classic shell any longer, using Start10

I am curious to know any reason why you leave out Mail app from Apps- uninstall list ?

    Hey David, :)

It's in the tutorial as Calendar and Mail. They are both the same app.

That is so cool that you made this program. I had it down to about two steps, using a paste of a text list. I had been doing clean installs of win 10 and this little program of yours is a lifesaver.

Hi, my native photos app has developed a problem. Well it's fine on my user account but not on my wife and son. I noticed couple days ago there were a few native apps updating in store. It's set to auto but a load of them seemed to be stuck. I done a few things like press pause and X, then manually scanned for updates again and eventually the update downloads all went through.

but when I tried to launch photos in the other user accounts nothing happens. I went into store under their user accounts and searched for photos. It acted as if it wasn't installed on these user accounts so I downloaded it, saw it do its thing such as acquire license etc. Then tried to launch the photos app but again nothing.

as a test I created a new user account and the photos app on it works fine (as it does on my own). I am wary of powershell commands as I read build 10586 doesn't play nice with these commands and can damage a lot more. But I just want a simple way to try and fix the photos app on these specific user accounts without the risk of upsetting the app on my own account. Is there much I can do or is it best to wait and see if MS updates the photos app again soon as it may magically fix it. Unfortunately I find the native app updates to be very flakey, non native apps seem pretty reliable and update / work safely. Of course I could create new user accounts but this is tiresome and I've already done this before because of a store issue. It takes a long time to set everything back up for a user and I expect given the unreliability of the app updates it wouldn't surprise me if the issue re occurs.

i am using desktop app version of picasa now for these accounts and it is set to default for file extensions so it's not the end of the world but we would like the native photos app to work again, we quite liked the live tile functionality

I think MS should make it much easier to uninstall and re install a native app.

    Cheers,
    Wayne

Never mess with powershell commands to get the apps working. It will make them worse. Just wait and have patience. I learned with Windows 10 buggy horrible apps that eventually a busted app will just magically start working again when it gets updated.
