Windows 10: Uninstall Apps in Windows 10
You're most welcome John. I'm glad it could help.
Just to add something I recently discovered. CCleaner's uninstaller section appears to list the built-in apps and can uninstall them.
Indeed but from my testing they can only be uninstalled one at a time ? - as opposed to say taking out all the *bing* apps with one powershell command
Interesting - I am waiting too for the AU to start with a "clean" sheet as I had trouble trying to uninstall apps for all users if the account used for powershell command did not have the particular app installed
As always, thank you so much Brink!
I did remove the apps doing the instructions 1-by-1.
Only later I read that it would be possible to paste the complete list of instructions into the Powershell window, so as to have them all gone in just at once.
A little like option 4, but then you have slightly more control, but I believe option 4 removes all, except store.
but pasting a list of commands, e.g. 10 or 15 one may select which ones to keep.
Obviously I couldn't test that anymore.
But maybe that is already covered somewhere in long thread...
Anyway, thanks again.
I'm glad it could help tfwul.
is this gona be updated to anniversary edition, I noticed there some new apps be auto installed I had issue removing
It does and has for while but it does not list all the apps either
Brink, I tried to use powershell commands to remove certain apps according to this thread. But it doesnt work. I tried to use this command to remove Contact Support:
But this doesnt work. Instead I get this error below. I was told that I need the Win 10 Anniversary Update. Is this true? How can I remove this app:
Hello tsunami and xlook,
Default system apps used by Windows like this one cannot be uninstalled, and is why they are not listed in tutorial. Removing these system apps could make Windows unstable.
If thats the case, how do I at least hide these unwanted items from the start menu? I went to this folder to see if I could hide these items. But I didnt find any items there:
I also went to and couldnt find any programs there:
I have checked the option to show hidden items. I dont understand why I'm still not able to view any items. Maybe Win 10 made changes against this tweak?
Also, how can I raise items like, file explorer, settings, power, and all apps, higher along the start menu? Theyre placed too low.

I found the directory at:
I found my programs listed. But I'm not able to find items like Contact Support. Where can I find this elusive app at?
And also, dont forge tto help me with raising those items in the start men: (file explorer, settings, power, and all apps). Theyre situated too low.
Many of the Universal Apps cannot be uninstalled because the button is inactive (grayed out). This might be 'by design' for the Technical Preview since Microsoft wants users to test the Apps.
The preferred method is to use the uninstall button...
