Having SATA Hot plug enabled shouldn't affect this, but you can test your theory by temporarily disabling it.

Normally, only drives considered as removable are shown separately in the navigation pane. It's interesting that your Windows drive ("C") is showing separately. It shouldn't.

Do you happen to have any 3rd party tweaking program installed that may have an option to add or remove these drives from the navigation pane?

As a test, run the remove .reg file one more time to see how it looks afterwards.

I believe Hotswap drives are considered "removable" are they not? ( would explain C: showing) if you check the USB removal icon on the taskbar they should show up there if Windows thinks it removable. Disable Hotswap if you don't use it eg in a RAID setup or for backup purposes with a Drive Caddy.

I have CCleaner but I don't know if that counts as a tweaking programs other that I don't have any that I know of.

I've ran the .reg file again and turned off hot-swapping but before I did I checked the taskbar and I had no USB removal icon in there.

After the restart everything looks good. I'll post again later on and let you know if thats still the case :)

Well its been a few hours and it seems as everything is working fine now.

It must have been the hotplug that I had on that was causing the issues. Thanks for the help guys :)

I lost the ">" after I ran the "Remove_Drives_from_Navigation_Pane.reg" file. Is that WAD?

Hello Blofeld, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

When you don't have the selected item (ex: "Quick access" or "This PC") in the navigation pane active (highlighted blue instead of gray), the arrows will fade away after a bit.

You can either hover over the area to have the arrows reappear, or click on the selected item (ex: "Quick access" or "This PC").

i think this problem occurs because of the sata hdd being enabled to be hot swappable in the BIOS..

I haven't test this theory though..

The reg file also removed the USB flash drive, microsd card from showing as well now.

    Hi Brink, thank's.

I noticed that, but is that the way it is supposed to work or just a (un)fortunate side-effect?
