Hello @LarryLACa,
I'm not aware of any changes for this about SMB2 since it's usually not wanted for Guest account.
Yeah, the info under the user icon in a post is current information, and not for when the post was posted.
Brink,
I've just noticed something that might be of interest. In What Is the ntuser.dat file - Techwalla it says that if an account's ntuser.dat is renamed ntuser.man it will function but does not get altered. So you could fix a user profile for, say, a visitor and any profile changes would only last until logoff.
- I don't think I will ever need this ability but it seems to me to be a method of making a standard user account behave somewhat like a conventional Guest account would.
- So it is something that could be set up in preference to creating a Guest account.
- It would entail some maintenance effort by the computer admin because files created within the vistor's user folders would not be deleted at logoff.
- I am not sure about the relative merits of these two possible courses of action but thought it worth bringing to your attention.

Brink,
This is a bit of a concern.
You can't enable the Guest account in Windows 10. Here's why and how others are lying - Digital Citizen

The author of that article appears to be pointing out the difference between the built-in "Guest" account and this local account "Visitor" with only guests rights.
I'm not sure what the author means by it "doesn't work" though.
The "Visitor" account is not the same as the built-in "Guest" account, but does behave similar by not saving anything the "Visitor" does. It also allows people (guest/visitor) to use your PC without having access to your personal files. Users signed in to the account can't install apps, open Windows Store apps, install hardware, and change Settings.
Option 1 and 2 perform the exact same thing, but just different ways to do it.
I thought it was clear in the info at the top of tutorial on all this not being the same as the built-in "Guest" account. No lie as the author indicates if referring to this specific tutorial.
