    The repair install also worked for me.I stated in an earlier post (#14) that I had succeeded in converting a Normal User account to a Guest account. That report was true - but misleading.

    Here's what actually happened. I transferred a Macrium system image from an older Dell Vostro to my new Asus. That Vostro had an unused Normal account. So, as a quick experiment, I simply converted that account to a Guest account with no password.

    There were no problems at login. So I deleted the experimental Guest account. (Rule: don't delete anything on a computer without thinking about it for at least a year.) I created a new Normal User account, then converted it to a Guest account as suggested earlier by Brink.

    That account had the instantaneous logout problems as seen by several users of this thread. So I was then forced to do a Repair Install as suggested by Brink. That solved the problem

    How to Add a Guest Account in Windows 10

    I now have a follow-up question on the same subject.
    The visitor account has been set up with a US keyboard (there was no option to specify otherwise at set-up), but the visitor is unable to alter this, as admin rights are needed. How do I, as administrator, change the keyboard for the visitor account to the UK version?

    Hello Mike, :)

    If you like, you could set a default keyboard input method for all users.

    @MikeinGrange,

    A Guest account cannot open Settings, but it can open Control Panel. You can add an input method in Control Panel > Language. You won't even get a UAC prompt.
