It reserves 5% of the drive size by default, but you can use an option in the tutorial below to change it.

I'm only aware of a command way, but it's 5% by default anyways.

If 5 is the default % then forget it, am ok with that, now I am asking for a reg file (to integrate that with Windows ISO) that enables the SR for all users since the very first boot of a PC after a clean installation. Is this possible?

So far for me, system protection has been turned on by default for the Windows drive.

I'm only aware of the command methods in this tutorial though.

No, it's not, by default it is off for all drivers. That used to happen in the earlier version of Windows.

Can't turn on system protection on another disk other than system disk. I tried it powershell way:
    Enable-ComputerRestore -Drive "F:"
It fails and gives me this message:
    Code:
    Enable-ComputerRestore : Include System Drive in the list of Drives.At line:1 char:1+ Enable-ComputerRestore -Drive "F:\"+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Enable-ComputerRestore], ArgumentException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : EnableComputerNoSystemDrive,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.EnableComputerRestoreCommand
I also try to disable turn off system restore in gpedit.msc, but it was not configured, doubt it was that and i read microsoft forums and couple posts and didn't find anything useful. How to solve this ? I should also mention, button turn of system protection is greyed out for any other disk.

    Hello empleat,

Just to verify, what type of file system does these other disks have?

System protection will only be available for NTFS formatted disks.

If they are NTFS, please go ahead and post screenshots showing your System Protection settings to see if anything may stand out for these drives.

You might check using the tutorial below to see if you may have mistakenly disabled system restore.

Even in registry, disabling system restore is not enabled. Besides it works on C.
