Turn On or Off Clear Acrylic Taskbar Transparency in Windows 10

Users can turn on or off transparency for the Start, taskbar, and action center for only their account in Windows 10. When users turn on transparency, it will have a blurred effect by default.

If you like, you can set Windows to have clear transparency for the taskbar instead of blurred when a user turns on transparency for their Start, taskbar, and action center.

Starting with Windows 10 April 2018 update version 1803, the taskbar has a new blur effect know as acrylic. This will make turning on clear transparency no longer have a clear glass like taskbar, but a somewhat blurred transparent taskbar instead now.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off having clear acrylic taskbar transparency for all users in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to turn on or off clear acrylic taskbar transparency.

Did you sign out/in or restart the computer to apply?

EDIT: Nope. Just an acrylic taskbar now instead of clear.

Is it possible to adjust the amount of transparency in Win 10 1803?

Not that I'm aware of anymore. It's now acrylic instead of clear.

Since a week or so ago i added the clear transparency reg file for the taskbar. At normal use of my laptop the taskbar is acryllic. But somehow, whenever my laptop goes to power saving mode, the taskbar becomes clear (which i want it to be constantly). Is there an explaination/sollution to this?

Hello tischot, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Interesting. I'm not sure why yet it would only be clear instead of acryllic when in power saving mode.

hello Shawn I am trying to get the taskbar to go transparent and have downloaded where it says to download and then hit run > OK then sign out and then in but no transparent taskbar.

I know I ma probably doing something wrong but I thought this way would make it simpler than editing the registry.

    Hello John,

You haven't done anything wrong. Since the April Update, the taskbar will can be either solid color or acrylic blurry. I haven't seen a way for it be clear transparent yet.

If you like, you could auto-hide the taskbar until needed.

Thanks Shawn it isn't that I don't want the taskbar just thought it would be nice transparent

I saw a YouTube where some fellow actually wrote into the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) after opening it right down to Explorer a new folder with a line in 32bit (whatever that means) to turn on transparency that read
"UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency REG_DWORD 0x00000001 (1)" the 1 being transparency on does that make any sense?

For reference the video was this WINDOWS 10 TRANSPARENCY (AERO) EFFECT - YouTube
I am trying to attach a pic but just recently that isn't working properly I hope I haven't made things a little muddled
