Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

I must admit that I'm not sure why it's doing that. You might create a new thread in the General Support forum area for this to get more specific help with it.

just as add

powercfg.exe -h off

or

powercfg.exe /h off

in an admin command prompt
(h=hibernate , as info)

will vanish/hide/disable
both [fast startup] and [hibernate] options
from power options
and your computer will forget about this
restart is not required.

Instead, you could use the command below for an immediate full forced shut down to compare with. I'll be interested in your results.

Hey there,
I have a situation trying to use this shortcut command:

If I keep the shortcut on the desktop everything is working fine. Fast startup, Sleep, Hibernate, Lock are off during these tests. If I move the shortcut on C:\ root for example it doesn't work anymore. Could be related to the fact that even if I am the admin of this machine, when I cut/paste the file from desktop in other place on C:\ I get this?

It is normal to be prompted to "Continue" when copying/moving anything into a Windows system folder or C: root directory like that. Does it successfully copy/move when you click on Continue?

The shortcut keys you assigned to the shortcut will only work if the shortcut is on your desktop or pinned to taskbar.

Hey there :)
it successfully copy/move when I click on Continue. Make sense now, reading your answer as soon as I move the file, this become unresponsive. This will apply no matter what shortcut I create for fast shutdown?

In Windows 7 for example I successfully used this shortcut command shutdown.exe -s -t 00 and the file was somwhere on C:\.

The shortcut should still work if you click on it, but just the assigned shortcut keys won't.

Indeed if I click on it will work (in other location too) but not using the defined keyboard combination.
Anyway, I'll put it somewhere in your above mentioned locations. A little bit off-topic for restart will be enough to replace the /s with /r as follows, shutdown /r /f /t 0 ? thanks

For the record, a functional shortcut launched by a keyboard combination will be on the desktop (not in hidden mode unfortunately) and taskbar **. In start menu I've tried using the pin function and also using this path ( C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs ) but it works only at clicks. Best regards,

LE: ** Meanwhile I've found what I've been looking for, the shortcuts could also be placed on this path:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Using this approach you don't have to keep them on taskbar or to desktop. It will works using the keyboard shortcuts.
