In the article, the warning says that when hibernation is disabled, so is Fast Startup. I disabled hibernation and then looked in my registry at the

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power

    HiberbootEnabled DWORD

0 = Turn off fast startup
1 = Turn on fast startup

    The
HiberbootEnabled DWORD is 1. Please advise?

Hello rtoy, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Did you use the method below to specify hiberfile type as reduced?

Which option did you use to disable hibernate?

If I were to guess, the hibernate being disable over rides the fast startup settings.

    Hello everyone,

I have one question. When fast startup is enabled I'm getting strange shutdowns. My monitor + HDD is turning off (I hear it ) but fans in case, on gpu and leds are on for about another 3-4 seconds. When I disable hibernate everything is shutting in the same time. Is it normal ?

Hello Matt, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Yes, it's normal. It takes a bit after you shut down for your memory to be saved to the hiberfil.sys file to hibernate.

Thank you for very fast response . So you say that's normal even if my W10 is on SSD (HDD is only for rest of files) ? Strange that noone noticed it before. Couldn't find any information about this.

Yes, it's normal to take a bit to save memory before hibernating.

If you did not have an SSD, it might take 5 to 10 seconds to save the hyberfil data.

Ok thanks I turned it on because PC starts faster even with SSD. Difference was like 5-6 seconds. But on the other hand turns off longer .

If you like, you could specify the hiberfile type to reduced to only have fast startup without hibernate to stop the delay at shut down.
