    Hello Scott,

Good point. If it's an OEM PC with a factory recovery partition, then yes a reset could use it to restore say Windows 8.1.

In this situation, then yeah it would be best to reinstall with Windows 10 installation media instead.

Does the Reset wipe partitions too?

I moved all my important things (music, docs, movie, etc) to another partition which dual boots Ubuntu alongside Win10

    Hello underskyzx,

Reset will only affect the Windows partition. You may have to move your folders again afterwards though to have them link to the other drive again.

So I want to do a full reset, No real reason other then I want to free up space and have already backed up everything I cared about. When I go to do the reset (I have windows 10 from the free upgrade if it matters). It says "This wont take long" then it says "There was a problem Resetting your PC" and under that it says "No changes were made". How can I get past this?

Edit: I was able to do a reset in which I keep my files but I would like to do a full reset.

Hello darthjawafett, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Since a reset basically gives you a clean install, you could do a direct clean install below instead if you like since resetting is failing for you.

Attempting this right now. Went to reddit too and they suggested the same solution based on what I wanted so with two different sources telling me the same thing I'm trying it. Thanks for the help.

Hello kriwillysme, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Yes, Windows 10 will remain activated after a reset.

Just want to make sure, if I go with option two and click remove files and clean drive in step 7, is that the same thing as a clean install, but easier I guess.
