App Name for Traditional (non-modern) HKCU apps

Found this excellent post whilst investigating issues with apps like GitHub Desktop, where app not listed in apps in Notification Settings 👍

Turn On or Off Notifications from Apps and Senders in Windows 10-notifications.png

Perhaps related to the install method (of the app and by the user)

    - I have apps installed as localuser eg GitHub desktop seen as command @
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\x-github-desktop-auth\shell\open\command

    - looking at apps at HKCU\..Notifications\Settings most appear to be windows internal apps, maybe windows store appid's. MSEdge is listed, looking at the reg this is AppUserModelId for
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\MSEdgeHTM\Application

I'm wondering if it's possible to make Windows notification work for myapps (traditional non metro/store .exe's, mainly in HKCU) and how to achieve, eg if I can create a key in Notification\Settings for an HKCU app, and what referencename to use for KeyName, and how that's looked up.

    If possible, would "x-github-desktop-auth" work?
    eg
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\x-github-desktop-auth

Or is this one of those issues that only I'm having?!
re: apps in uninstall, that have notification settings
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

    Hello mate,

It'll be safe for an uninstalled app.

    Hi Brink
and if I clean all the registry keys inside eve the software and apps installed
    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings
    could be harmful ?
could let the notify list in notfication & action not work correctly?
    have you tried?
in short would be nice to reset it sometime
    thanks

No. It will not hurt anything.

Deleting that key will reset and clear the "Get notifications from these senders" list like below. It will then automatically get rebuilt as you get new notifications.
