    Hi, I've tried to confirm registry changes when changing the synchronisation settings through normal user interface (option One and Two). But with Process Monitor I don't see any changes made to the registry. Are these settings now stored in some other place than in the registry?
    Hello WIZZs, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

    When you make a change to your sync settings in Settings, the registry in OPTION THREE doesn't get updated until you close Settings, but otherwise it's still the same though.

    Great, I've tested it and you are very right

    Maybe, or better: most likely, a bit of a newbie question: I did some searches on Internet about the 'Sync your settings' matter, but most explanations are not going any further than as to how to enable/disable this feature.

    Sync settings to other devices.
    Devices.. are Virtual Machines also counted as devices?
    License-wise yes, but what in case synchronizing?

    My host PC has 2 Windows 10 VM's, one English and non-English version.
    Currently 'Sync settings' is disabled.
    One way or the other, the desktops of the VM's are the same as the one of my host pc.
    This is also the case after a 'reset' that I did yesterday, whilst selecting 'Remove everything'
    (=Removes all of your personal files, apps, and settings)

    Q: What happens if I enable the 'Language preferences' - will the the Windows GUI of the non-English version by synchronized with the host pc?

    Thanks

    Hello tfwul, :)

    Only your language preferences should be synced if that's the only setting turned on.

    I am not sure Brink... I gave it a try, but nothing changed, I mean, specifically with regards to the language.

    Also I wonder which device will be synchronizing with which, I mean:
    My first pc has Windows 10 x64 EN, 2 VM's, one is EN the other is non-EN (both x64)
    I have a 2nd pc with Windows 10 EN x64.

    Now, say I have set 'Sync ON' (the slider), and additionally set
    Theme=ON
    Internet Explorer=OFF
    Password=OFF
    Language=ON
    Ease of Access=OFF
    Other Windows Settings=ON

    I have 'set' this on all 4 pc's.

    The 2 VM's are 'clean' Windows pc's, i.e. no applications installed (I mostly use them for trying out software and then restore the VM snapshot, to revert to a clean W10).

    Which pc settings will then be synchronizing with which pc ?

    Maybe it won't work in this specific scenario.

    It should eventually sync with the same Microsoft account on all 4 PCs when connected to the Internet. However, it may take you having to set them a few times to get it all synced since it's syncing all 4 at the same time with each having different settings.

    Hi Shawn,

    As you may know, I am having plenty of hassles at the moment and one of them is "synch settings"

    At the moment, I cannot easily change any of the synch settings on my PC as the main option at the top of the synch settings page is "greyed out"

    How can I fix this particular issue?

    Hello Geoff, :)

    Sync your settings will only be available to use and change if you are signed in with a Microsoft account. It appears that you are signed in with a local account instead.

    If you wanted to use a Microsoft account, the tutorial below will show you how to switch your local account to a Microsoft account.

    No, I am logged in with my MS account, but the synch process is locked up and fails to complete. I am trying to find out why the synch process is locked up. The other issue is One drive starts up, sometimes 2 versions, but before that process completes it also terminates without synching my one drive files .....

    Odd. That message at the top of the sync your settings page usually means that you are using a local account. It wouldn't hurt to double check using the tutorial below to see if your account may have been switched to a local account.
