So as far as making a clean exit from the host using the tscon 1 /dest:console command...I had an issue with the cmd window being left open and my user on the host end not knowing how/if he should close it.

What I did was make a simple little .bat file two lines:
    Code:
    tscon 1 /dest:console
    exit
I named it SessionEnd.bat, you can call it what you want...place it in the HOSTs C:\Windows\system32 folder. Now as you leave the RDC on the host, right click start, click Command Prompt (Admin), in the cmd box type in the name of your batch file (for me SessionEnd.bat), hit enter and you're out of there and the cmd window is closed and the world is good. :)

I have a feeling that this excellent tutorial is getting a little out of date, Some of the dialog boxes that I get on my Win 10 Pro trying to setup RDC to another Win 10 PC on my LAN do not match what you showed.

You can use the home edition with RDWrap-v-1.6.1.zip. and you also need to copy "rfxvmt.dll" (C:\windows\system32) from a working W10Pro and paste in W10Home (same spot).

    Releases · stascorp/rdpwrap · GitHub

Get the Zip version as the MSI doesn't currently work on windows 10.

PS “RDP Wrapper works as a layer between Service Control Manager and Terminal Services, so the original termsrv.dll file remains untouched."

I've been trying to find a way to help my sister who lives hundreds of miles away with her PC. I know any windows PC can be controlled remotely. M$ may have made it extremley difficult for the end user to do so but they can do it quite easily with no need for setting up anything on the "host" end.

It's all really quite infuriating. She completely computer illiterate and I'm not going to try talking her through making these modifications over the phone.

Before I get into this and spend a lot of valuable time. My intention would be to replace GO TO MY PC. They are getting quite expensive.
My uses would be at my business location to remote connect between 2 desltp[ computers and My Notebook, any one of the three being the host or client then

While working on the road my Notebook would connect to either of my 2 business desktops that run 24-7
Go to my PC does this very well but the cost has just about doubled since I started using it and the program hasn't really changed or been improved on much at all.

Will it be safe to leave the 3389 port open all the time on these two desktops?
All are 10 Pro and I use a P2P network workgroup, all 3 computers have the same Admin User account open at all times generally
My Connection is Cable Modem/Router with a static IP. I connect my own wireless Router to run my network and DNS which I use Open DNS Service Firewall is Norton, Wireless Router Asus 68U

If we don't think this is a good Idea or even possible let me know so I don't waste a bunch of hours trying to set it all up.

If no-one else is using them when you want to sign on RDC is OK and (I think) safe.

Otherwise I use Teamviewer or (also getting increasingly more expensive) WebEx.

Thanks for the tip, seems to "Go to My PC" has just gone crazy with there prices One PC is now costing me what 3 were just a few years ago and no real improvements over the time period, at least not in usable features. I will look into to TeamViewer

Giving Teamviewer a go, so far I like the idea that its free for personal use, any of my 4 computers can host or Client to the others, Its a bit of a learning curve but I think I now have all 4 running the free version and all connecting to each other. No I need to get remote off my personal network and give it a try as that is my real need, connection while I'm on the road.
