    Thanks for your reply. Indeed the folder is a subfolder of a folder in a library. Anything I can do about it? I use "large icons" for view and I don't like that the subfolder icon comes up in Explorer showing a private picture.
    Ooops! Thank you. It makes sense and I feel dumb that I did not try looking at the folder in its original location.

    Someone created one imageres. dll for Windows 7,long time ago, i like the way the icons looks like
    When I create a new icon it looks blue, not yellow-default
    How could I modify the imageres. dll from Windows 10, actually?
    Thanks

    When I copy folder with customized icon to another place or onedrive, does the copy folder have that icon after Windows is reset?

    Hello,

    The custom icon will not show if the folder is copied or moved to a removable or network location.

    Otherwise, as long as the location of the custom icon you selected has not changed, the icon should still show on the folder.

    @Brink,
    Thank you. As I see by myself, if I copy the custom icon folder to an external hard drive, the icon still presents, but I understand that it will not show if I plug it to other computer, or after resetting my OS. Is there anyway to backup those customization?

    I'm not aware of a way when the icon source location changes.
