The asterisk (*) is still on the "main" display. If I change that, it goes to my big screen, and so does my desktop.

My monitors. As I said earlier, I use two TV's, flat panels. One VGA port (No. 2); one HDMI (No. 1).

What sorry you still can't switch? I can just click on number 1 monitor icon, a green checkmark comes up, I hit apply and boom. The first time I opened it the window was oversized I couldn't see the apply button and I didn't realize had to actually click on the picture of the monitor and I was for a second convinced I had hit another dead end!

Notice the "Make Primary" setting for #1? That option doesn't come up in #2. And when I click on that, the desktop switches to the #1 monitor, which is my "TV" TV.

I think there is this biting ambition to find a way to make this happen, when the fact that the connections are completely different and that is the crux of the issue. I need to buy a graphics card with multiple HDMI ports, and just use it to get what I seem to be obsessed with having. VGA, HDMI, have different properties, and Windows, obviously, hasn't addressed a marriage between the two.

But it's fun hunting though. Thanks!

Hey they only need to make it work for most situations for most people to make money :) My post got held back because I tried to post a link as newbie, it's beyond me but I would definitely copy and paste all of what you said and pics to the AMD forums and let us know how you made out!

    Happy hunting!

Brink said in an earlier post, July, 2017, that the connections ARE the problem. I went back to the beginning of the thread and saw his comment in reply to my post about the different connection properties. You can always count on Brink to give you the straight. That guy's good!

My extended 2 screens flipped my primary to #2, the select main screen box is checked but greyed out and unresponsive. Changing dual screen settings (1 only, 2 only, extend, duplicate) does not open the check box. reboot didn't clear the screen 2 setting back to norm (screen 1 primary). How to unfreeze the system?
