    Thank you Brink. May be it is FAQ, but how this ownership depends on locale?

    The "y" parameter bolded in red in the "Directory" registry entry below is used to say yes to automatically confirm changing the owner. Unfortunately, this needs to be translated for a different language to use the first letter of "Yes" for that language instead.

    In your case, change "y" for yes (English) to "t" for taip (Lithuanian).

    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant *S-1-3-4:F /t /c /l /q & pause"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant *S-1-3-4:F /t /c /l /q & pause"

    I am running the 64bit version of win 10 pro version 1607 build 14393.693 - English language
    I have a file that won't let me delete it.
    I downloaded the take ownership with pause. It installed properly, and executes, but I get...
    ERROR: Access is denied.
    Press any key to continue . . .

    Hello dogsled,

    The location of the file may be locked. You might see if you may be able to manually take ownership of the file instead.

    Tried all of that. I downloaded the reg file because nothing else worked. takeown gives ERROR: Access is denied. Thinking about taking a chisel to the hard drive.

    In that case, see if you may be able to sign in and use the built-in "Administrator" account to take ownership of the file.

    Thanks for your prompt responses. I enabled the administrator account but, alas, it got the same "access denied" error that I got under my profile. Windows is really being ugly about this.

    You might see if the free program Unlocker may be able to delete it for you.

    @Brink
    Does your method in the link from Post #282 involve adding yourself as a Principle then check marking Full Control?
    Works for me every time.
    Gotta be darn sure of the object you're messing with though!
