    Hello Guys, :)

Yeah, you would want to run the old remove .reg file for the old version since it's under the "runas" key, and the new one isn't.
Thanks, Shawn. Thought you might recommend that.

Maybe a up top to advise?

That's ok. The current remove .reg file in the tutorial will remove both the new and old version of the context menu.

After downloading & installing your 'pause' .reg file, I do see TAKE OWNERSHIP on the context menu.
However, when the DOS screen appears I get this message: "ERROR: access is denied'.
I verified that I am an administrator and am using Windows 10 PRO v1709 (English).
FYI, no pause occurred: only the error message was shown in the DOS window.

    Hello Dan, :)

It sounds like the error message may be for what you were trying to take ownership of. What were you trying to take ownership of?

As a test to see if there's an issue with the context menu on your PC, what do you see when using the Take Ownership context menu on a file or folder on your desktop.

    Hi Brink:
I was trying to take ownership of the AVAST (PC antivirus) folders I wanted to delete and have since learned (from their website) that this may be so difficult to do that they have their own special utility that needs to be executed in SAFE MODE.
I followed your suggestion and just successfully processed a desktop folder with 1,001 files via TAKE OWNERSHIP so it appears as if my first use was a very special case that the vendor had to write a utility for and your utility is working just fine!
    Thanks for your quick reply,
    Dan

Ah, that would be why then. Avast will be protecting those folders from anything accessing or modifying them.

Using their utility should work though.
