Can you make shift+right-click version for Add_Take_Ownership_to_context_menu.reg only?

    Greetings!

First post, want to say first of all, thanks for all y'all do. Been a lurker for a while, gleaned useful tips and info off here. Thank you.

On to my issue... I have suffered from this stupid locking of folders since Windows 10 was released. I recently found another thread in here about the issue, where a chap posted the reg addition below:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Hello TCGTX, and welcome to Ten Forums.

That's an old version of the context menu.

You can use the remove option in the tutorial on the first post here to remove it, and then install the new version to see if it may work better for you.

If you still get the same error message, then you could see if downloading and merging the CMD item in Option Two of the tutorial below may help by restoring the default associations for it.

Ok so I downloaded the remove file, I just need to merge it as is, then restart, then add newer take ownership with pause and reboot again?

Correct, but no need to restart the computer.

Ok now Windows tells me access is denied. But my original error is gone! lol Thank you for you super quick replies!

Edit: It worked for downloads folder, but not desktop or other folders that have Windows icons on them. I cant take ownership of the files and folders in the desktop individually.

I read in the first post about not being able to take ownership of certain folders by design, due to stability issues. But Desktop was not one of them.

    Again, thank you!

    @TCGTX,

Go ahead and post a screenshot showing these folders with the Windows icons on them to see if it may help ID the cause.

For now, check to see if you may have Controlled Folder Access enabled. If you do, you can temporarily disable it to do what you want.

    Hi,

Any way to hide annoying powershell flash when taking ownership? Also is there a way to skip prompt and elevate the process by default? As i remember the older version would finish everything and exit without any annoying prompts or pauses... i wish i can replicate that behavior..
