Hello Jstar, and welcome to Ten Forums.

While the context menu should do this for you, you could use the commands from the tutorials below to create a .bat file to take ownership and set permissions of those items.

safe to assume this doesnt work on drives? or entire c folders aka program files?

I know better to take ownership of anything like that, just trying to figure if its missing from my context menu in those "contexts" due to my recent upgrade to insider build (always breaks a few things) or if it was never there to begin with (coulda swore it was but hey).

    Hello klepp,

Correct. The Take Ownership context menu will not be available when you right click or press and hold on any drive, the C:\Program Files folder, the C:\Program Files (x86) folder, the C:\ProgramData folder, the C:\Users folder, and the C:\Windows folder.

    @Brink
    Dear Shawn,

I need your help regarding 'Security' tab which appears on each file and folder or on drive's properties. I have a video which which contains personal information like 'title' etc. which I want to remove from it. When I click to 'Remove Properties and Personal Information' then it says, 'File Access denied, you need permission to perform this action. You require permission from DESKTOP-AKDE35/Acer to make changes to this file'

Acer is my username and I confirmed I have all the administrative privileges like full control to access all files and folders and to modify it when I want. Acer is the member of Administrators group but it still says above message.

Then I tried your Take Ownership reg file but still no gain. Why is it happening. Till today I couldn't understand all the functionality of 'Security' tab, in fact, not a single one.

So please help me how I can remove personal information of my media files. Can you make another reg file which can gain all of the permissions including special permissions, whatsoever, to current user?

Please help me friend. You can access my PC via TeamViewer, if needed.
    Awaiting your response,
    Thanks.

    Hello Aladdin,

Just to confirm, did you use the "Take Ownership" context menu on the file?

If you did, are you able to manually change the owner of the file to your account, and set its permissions to "Allow" your account "Full Control"?

Yes, I used Take Ownership context menu on the file. I was already the owner of the file with 'full control' access and that's why I am surprised why this is happening when I am already the owner of that file.

Odd. As a test, are you able to copy/move the file to your desktop to edit there, and move back when finished?

I can move/copy that media file to desktop or wherever I want. I can also rename/delete that file from its original location. In fact, I can do everything except removing personal information. The point is personal information can't be removed by placing the file to anywhere.
