    hi
    i get this error because my system is italian , can i use the panish version ?
    i should change the y to si (s ) only for the take Take_Ownership_with_Pause_

    Add_Take_Ownership_to_context_menu.reg should work with every languages ,should not it?

    ERROR: Invalid syntax. The value 'y' is not allowed for the option '/ d'.
    Type "TAKEOWN /?" for usage information.
    Press any key to continue. . .
    no i understood why under w7 it never worked
    should i change y to s in w7 too?

    Brink , may i ask you a question ?
    here you wrote
    I see the problem. This is a protected OS file/folder. Those you need to do manually.
    what do you mean ? sould i use a linux live usb ? or is there a way to delete protected OS file/folder? https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3...tml#post296599

    Hello Drugo,

    Since have the Italian language, you would need to change "Y" (yes) for "S" (sě).

    The Spanish version I posted below will work for you as well.

    Type in Reg Files

    Brink,

    There is a typo error in the reg file:

    All instances of:

    Position="middle"

    Should be:

    "Position"="middle"

    Note: You can change "middle" to "top" or "bottom" depending on where you want the menu item.

    Also, here is an optional Modification for a confirmation before applying Take Ownership, in case you click it by mistake.
    Note: This will insert a pause before the command is run. To stop execution, close the window (do NOT use Ctrl+C).

    After every instance of "cmd.exe /c" add "pause &" (there are 8)

    Example:

    Old:

    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f "%1" && icacls "%1" /grant administrators:F /c /l & pause"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f "%1" && icacls "%1" /grant administrators:F /c /l & pause"

    New:

    @="cmd.exe /c pause & takeown /f "%1" && icacls "%1" /grant administrators:F /c /l & pause"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c pause & takeown /f "%1" && icacls "%1" /grant administrators:F /c /l & pause"

    How about french version? :) And by the way.. Can you do that on C drive? So that it stops giving that damn "you need admin rights to change these settings" for way too many things?

    Hello unko, :)

    Here's a French version at the post below.

    You do not want to take ownership of your entire Windows drive (ex: C: ). Doing so can mess up Windows leaving you to possibly have to do a clean install.

    Hi Shawn,

    I have some programs that wanted to install in my Public folders, presumably because of permission issues in Program Files ...

    Being very anal about such things, I installed them in Program Files x86, but I do sometimes get errors unless i run them as Administrator. Would taking ownership fix this?
