    Great news.

You can use any icon you like though for a shortcut like below. Most of the system icons are located in the C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll and C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll files to select from at step 3.

    Original shortcut created
Add or Remove Pin to Start Context Menu in Windows 10-icon-1.png

    Opened to properties
Add or Remove Pin to Start Context Menu in Windows 10-icon2.png

Selecting 'change icon' brings up one image choice
Add or Remove Pin to Start Context Menu in Windows 10-icon-3.png

When I browse the icon selection, it just shows folder and file names

    That's normal.

You would just need to browse to and select either the C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll or C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll file to select an icon included in that file.

Thanks. Strange that neither of those dll files brought up the same selection of internet icons I had chosen from the other shortcut method.

You can select any .ico file, or select other library files (ex: dll, .exe, etc..) to select an icon from.
