    Thanks Brink.
ShowKeyPlus shows a difference in the 'Installed Key' and the 'OEM Key'
The 'OEM Edition' is 'Win 10 RTM Professional OEM: DM' which is what I expect and is the OS version installed.

So, I can just go ahead and change the Product Key the system is currently activated with, to the 'OEM Key' by using that second link you gave me?

Once that's done, will it use that corrected product key to reactivate itself when I do any future clean installs?

That's correct. You should be able to just change the product key to activate with the OEM key.

When you do a clean install, it should use the OEM key embedded in the UEFI firmware chip by default.

Done and dusted! Changed the product key to the OEM Key shown by ShowKeyPlus and the activation page now shows 'Windows is activated with a digital licence'.
    Thanks Brink and thanks ShowKeyPlus.

Deactivating key does not deactivate Windows.

According to EULA, if you have an oem key, that cannot be transferred to new pc.

If key is retail, you either sell pc with windows and key, or you keep key and wipe windows.

Five months ago, I bought a new HP Pavilion Power Ghost laptop with Windows 10 Home OEM installed. A few days after I started using it, I bought a Pro key through the Microsoft store. If I remember correctly, the laptop activated the Pro key automatically later on. Unfortunately, four months on, the USB controller failed. It was repaired under warranty by replacing the USB controller board. 18 days later, the same failure happened again.

I am returning the laptop to the store and have chosen a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop and I should have it in 3 to 6 days. It
comes with Windows 10 Home. On the HP, I will first deactivate my Pro key then restore Windows from the recovery partition before returning it to the store.

When I first use the Lenovo, I will go through the change key process to use my Pro key. I anticipate that it will not activate and I will have to go through more steps to get the Pro key accepted on the laptop. Has anyone done what I have to do? If so, what did you have to do to get your Pro key activated? Any advice most welcome :)

Digital Licences are purchased from the Store - you will have to transfer it.

Just an update: I ended up phoning Microsoft support and allowed their Technician remote access to my new laptop and he activated my Home to Pro. I was watching the screen and it looked like he was having trouble getting the original Pro key to be accepted on my new laptop. In the end, he used a different key of which I took a note of. The whole exercise, from the first phone call to Tech support, to the end, took 1.75 hours.
