Enable or Disable Disk Write Protection in Windows

Hmmm... list disk doesn't see the hdd in a usb external holder. Thats the one I need to fix so its cleared of read only.

edit: It does show under file explorer as drive E: Here is a screen shot.

Device manager shows it. Either I've forgotten how to get to Disk Management, possible, or they moved it.

Yes it shows in there just fine.

Good. You can use the same Disk # it shows in Disk Management for it in the command.

Aha ! Disk Management shows them both with the same size. Diskpart does to. But there aren't the same total size... that is why I found the Diskpart to be confusing. So I did clear the readonly.

Are you able to access drive E: on disk 1 now?

Just to note, this only helps if you get the "The disk is write-protected." message.

Yes, I can open folders and look at my files.

Only problem left is to get this Win 10 computer to see a Linux/UBCD dvd in the dvd drive as bootable so I can run some diagnostices on the bad drive. I can play movie and music dvds no problem.
