Where would I post that ? Under software or hardware ?
And thanks for the assist.
Hi - I have the same issue.
USB drive recently give me the write protected error.
Tried the partdisk solution and it doesnt work, the drive is showing as:
Current Read-only State : Yes
Read-only : No
This is before and after I use the clear readonly command. Its also shows as read-only in disk management.
Also tried using regedit to change the writeprotect bit - didnt work either.
any other ideas?
Hello twelve12, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
What brand and model is the USB drive?
If it's a flash drive, double check to see if it may have a write protect switch.
SanDisk Ultra USB3 16GB
No write protect switch on it.
edit: just reading the sandisk website, seems it may be an issue with the drive itself. They say that it can put itself into write protected mode when somethings does wrong with it to protect the data and theres no way to fix it but may be able to RMA (if i can find a reciept)
If so, it sounds like it could be the SanDisk SecureAccess software causing it.
If you haven't already, you might see if SanDisk RescuePRO may be able to recover any files on the USB.
just tried that, still gives write protect error! bit useless!
guess theres no fixing it, just have to see about rma!
thanks for the help anyway
