How to Turn On or Off Cortana Tips in Windows 10

This tutorial is no longer valid starting with Windows 10 version 2004.

Cortana is your clever new personal assistant. Cortana will help you find things on your PC, manage your calendar, track packages, find files, chat with you, and tell jokes. The more you use Cortana, the more personalized your experience will be.

Cortana can display tips (aka: Taskbar Tidbits) now and then, from big ideas to hidden gems. Tips can include tip cards, tip notifications, and skills notifications.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off displaying Cortana Tips for your account in Windows 10.

You will need to sign in to Cortana with your Microsoft account to be able to turn on Cortana Tips.

    EXAMPLE: Cortana Taskbar Tidbits

    Here's How:

    1. Click/tap in the Cortana icon on the taskbar, click/tap on the Notebook icon Turn On or Off Cortana Tips in Windows 10-notebook.png, click/tap on the Manage Skills tab, and click/tap on Cortana tips. (see screenshot below)

    3. Turn On or Off Show all tips for what you want. (see screenshots below)

If you turn on Show all tips, you will be able to turn on or off individual tips for what you want.

Is there a way to do this via the registry? I am trying to do this for my organization and would need to do it programmatically. Thanks!

    Hello @cognus,

I'm afraid that wouldn't be the same tips. The one in the tutorial for tips that pop-up above the Cortana icon or notification area on the taskbar like notifications instead.

ugly. i don't see a way to mute the notices. I appreciate real "tips" and haven't a problem with such but some of the folks I do work for hate all the intrusions here and there like land mines :)

Other than disabling Cortana, I haven't found a way to stop those yet either.
