I tried the reg hack but there is no AutoAdminLogon option after expanding Winlogon. The only "auto" listed there is AutoLogonSID and AutoRestartShell. Any advice? Thanks,
Larry

Larry, it sounds like you are in the wrong place in the registry.
You are here
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
and you need to be here
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device
Maybe you need to go back in this thread and review the instructions.
Hello Larry,
The AutoAdminLogon string value is not there by default until you have unchecked the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box and applied at least once.
You can manually add the AutoAdminLogon string value.
Are you not able to do option 1 with netplwiz?
When I get to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon there is no Password option. All the choices below Winlogon are Alternate Shells, AutoLogonChecked, GPExtensions, Notify, UserDefaults, VolativeUserMgrKey.
Trying the netplwiz option there is no "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" option.

This is a tricky hidden one. Look here: Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup
This is normal for the registry values to not be there by default. They would just need to be manually added when not.
Does this note from under the steps in option 1 for netplwiz apply to you?
If you turned on Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts (aka: passwordless sign-in), you will not see the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box.
If your PC is currently joined to a domain, then the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." box will not be available.
I don't think I'm connected to any domain. It's just a home computer only connected to my own workgroup. I'll have to review how to add that to the register and how to use the correct value.

I would check the tutorial below first to make sure it's turned off.
Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in for Microsoft Accounts
Under "Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts, the bullet is set to "on". If I turn it off then will it require no password or pin or will it start to ask for a password (which isn't set up). I don't require a password presently I just have to put in my pin.
BTW, when I tried to click new in the registry and add AutoAdminLogon it says it's already there, but it's sure not visible to me in the list beside Logon.
