    Two names for Logon
I followed the instructions for the Auto Logon using the Netplwiz option, but it did not work because at the logon screen there are two names
At the login screen, I have two names available. First name has my name and the email address while the second name as only my name. The user account shows my name and the email address. I do not have a password for the name only.
In the registry, the same name is indicated for both the DefaultUserName and the LastUsedUsername.
How do I remove the name only?

Hello cyclone, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

It sounds like you may not have entered your password correctly in netplwiz for your account. Setup netplwiz again with your password to see if it may help.

The user name is the one with the email address but when needed to add the password the user is the name only indicated. I never had a password or an account with the name only. When I reboot, the name only comes up with a statement that it used the wrong password.

That's normal for it to only show the user name where you need to enter the password of your Microsoft account in netplwiz. You would need to enter the password of your Microsoft account there.

When you enter the correct password in netplwiz, you will no longer see the second user at startup and incorrect password message.

I am sure that the password is correct for the MS account, but the name at logon is not the name for the MS account. So the password is right but the name is wrong. The registry only shows the MS account name, so I do not know where this other name comes from. The other name is my first name only and the MS account name has my first and last name.

As a test check the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box and apply to clear netplwiz, then try setting up netplwiz again to see if that may help.

When I clear the password needed box and then need to put in my password to verify that it is me, it is all over. The verification box that requires the passwords shows the first name only and not the MS email name which is the first and last name.

Is there a way to clear that first name only?

I cannot seem to find anywhere where just the first name appears so it can be eliminated.

You will only see the first name in the password dialog, and not the email address.

What happens when you enter the password of your Microsoft account in this dialog like under step 5 in OPTION ONE?

I thought I had done this before, but maybe this will be different so I tried it again. It must of been different because it worked. Needed to leave the room for a while after rebooting, but when I returned the screen was at my desktop.

Many thanks for the help, and if this is not the final chapter with this, I will return. THANKS!
