Windows 10: Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup

Today it appeared like my administrator account had logged into itself automatically. After rebooting the admin account was already logged into at the lock screen. I have not made any alterations to make this happen, so how can it be doing this now without my intervention?

    Hello Kol12,

Do you have the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box checked in netplwiz?

If you use Windows Hello face, double check to make sure you have turned off Automatically dismiss the lock screen if we recognize your face.

    Hi Brink,

I do have a tick in Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. I have never un-ticked it before.

It must have been my imagination? After another 2-3 restarts since yesterday the admin account is not automatically logging in. Maybe strange things like this happen sometimes?

I'm glad to hear it has sorted itself out for you. A bug I guess.

Hello Brink, right back with some silly questions.

I built a new PC "White". W10, installed, updated ... did all the chores to set it my way, installed all softwares I need.
    Only now I'm addressing a Boot/Login pain.

Now for many years booting my old "Black" PC, get me directly to the login screen: I start typing the password and I'm good.

Booting White, I never been able to get the same behavior.
I tried all options Home edition offer, but so far didn't get the right one.

I keep getting to a "lock-screen". Then a tap on any key, a click any button.. ... and I get to the login screen.
So, if I do it the way I'm used to... I get wrong password because: the first key I type will be lost opening login screen.

Any way to make White behave like Black?

    Alain

PS: I checked on Black as on White.
Both use for Lock-screen and Login screen the same background picture, even if each PC use a different one.
Both have "no password after sleep" checked

    Hello Alain,

Just to make sure I'm on the same page as you, you're wanting to only get rid of the lock screen and still have the sign-in screen?

If so, the tutorial below can show you how to disable the lock screen from showing.

    You're most welcome Alain.

I find using the Tutorial Index below easier to find a tutorial. If needed, you could use the "Find" "Find next" feature of your web browser to search the index.
