Turn On or Off Recent Items and Frequent Places in Windows 10

Can you get Windows 10 to display a list of recently opened *files* but not a list of recently opened web pages...
Can they be separated and one turned on but not the other?

I use Classic Shell on Windows 10 so that I can have Recent Items displayed in a drop down list, and would like to keep that ON but turn OFF the display of every web page I visit when I right click on the browser i the task Bar of Windows 10.

I've been looking for the same, but have not found anything. I miss the 'recent items' list from W7, as opposed to the folder that opens with recent items option in W10 - which means you then have to then close that folder.
I like the 'recent list' because its a reminder of things you have worked on recently, and it does not open a folder to get to the item - its less clicks.
So - I opted for Classic shell - which brings back a recent items 'list' from the start menu, and some other pretty good customization options.
I don't particularly like adding 'add-ons' for workarounds, but this seems to be the only way until 'when and if' MS brings back a true recent list.

Thank you, I will look through each option, I just wanted to ask if they offer a drop down menu option that opens up the Recent Items list right there in the Start menu instead of launching a separate folder to be opened?

Windows 10 no longer updates %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items if you
Windows 10 > Settings > Personalization > Start > Turn OFF Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar

Therefore, that setting has to be ON in order for Recent Items to exist.

Unfortunately along with Recent Items (files) - Windows 10 keeps a track of each and every web page you visit and prominently displays the web pages you visited when you right click on the browser in your Task Bar...


So we are faced with theoretically figuring out what part of registry Windows 10 uses to display the web pages and possibly *ONLY* blocking that part while allowing the Recent Items (files) to still be displayed.
This very well may be impossible, and I understand that.

But this is a pretty big deal. I don't even mind that web page history is accessible, but it's one thing for an effort to be made to get to it, and another for it to be on *Permanent Display* every single time you right click on any browser window in the task bar. There definitely should have been a registry entry that controls that SEPARATELY from Recent Files that were opened.
