I just tested on my build 18262, and toggling that setting off and on still clears the history for me.

If you like, you could also use either option 1 or 3 in the tutorial below to see if they may still clear your recent history.

Toggling that setting off and on still clears the history for me. That works for me, too.

However, having this setting in the on position used to prevent files from being placed in the "Recent Item" folder. Now my file usage history is stored.

It would need to be left turned off to prevent that.

    FYI...

To clear Recent Documents or Items, you can use this silent and clickable .vbs script. So easy.
Just place this in Notepad or similar and rename to CR.vbs - you can even create a shortcut from it.

    Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    sRD = WshShell.SpecialFolders("Recent")
    if sRD <> "" then
    On Error Resume Next
    objFSO.DeleteFile(sRD & "\*.lnk")
    end if

    Works in XP, 7, 8 and 10.

Does your script remove the history in the run command?

    Hello Richard,

For that, you would want to use this below instead.

Sorry, I was looking to clear all the other lists without affecting the run command history.

In that case, you're safe to use the tutorial on the first page here without affecting Run.
