Hmmm - Am I missing something here?
I don't get any web page history in my "Recent Items' in using 'Classic Shell', only docs such as PDF, XLS, docx, sip, and so on. The web pages only appear in the drop down called "Favorites". And those are not history, they are the same web pages I have in the browser bookmarks.

    Hello sunnyorlando, :)

    Recent Items doesn't show websites.

If you like, you can right click on your Internet Explorer icon pinned to the taskbar to open its jump list and see frequent websites.

    Hey Brink -
Must be a misunderstanding. I'm not looking to show websites in Recent Items - I don't want them there. I was simply replying/confirming to the post how my Classic Shell works.
I was also trying to get clarification from him because I don't see (in Classic Shell) what he sees.

    Cheers!

Sure. I would be glad to clarify: This is the Recent Items Classic Shell entry, which shows recently opened files [good]:

Turn On or Off Recent Items and Frequent Places in Windows 10-startmenu10.png

However, when you right click on your browser in the Task Bar, all your recently visited *web* pages show up. [bad].

The objective would be to *only* have Recent Items [recently opened files] show up, and not recent web pages...

I see.. Ok. From the task bar -
    > When I R-click on I.E. it shows me web sites.
    > When I R-click on Windows Explorer it shows me folder, not files.

I don't get recent web site anywhere else.

Could this be a setting choice in C-Shell that is not set for you? There are many settings in that app.

Correct, the only place to see web pages is where you mentioned, you are correct. That is what I would like to turn OFF.
However, I would like to *keep* Recent Items showing up (highlighted option) in the screen shot above.
So: YES Recent Items and NO Recent web pages is what I would like.

Ivo, the Classic Shell creator correctly pointed out to me that this has nothing to do with Classic Shell. This is a Windows issue since this Windows 10 option controls BOTH:

Windows 10 > Settings > Personalization > Start > Turn ON/OFF Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar

It appears there is no Windows setting or registry key that SEPARATELY controls Recent Items from Recent Web pages.
That is what I would like, to turn OFF recent web pages but keep Recent Items ON.

OK, So now I see better what you are asking for. I believe this is what they now call "Jump List" - and there may be a couple of places where to tweak this.
    So first take look here:
    http://techdows.com/2014/10/windows-...-explorer.html
I 'think' that this includes some of what you are asking for. However, in my W10, I don't get the "Start Menu" tab in the properties box - not sure why.

In case you have not been in this section, and if the above does not take care of it, go to "Personalization" > "Start".
There you will see several slider buttons - I believe the one you are wanting to adjust is "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or on the taskbar".

Let me know if that helped...
    Cheers!

    sunnyorlando, read the thread posts.
Look at the post directly above yours.

Windows 10 > Settings > Personalization > Start > Turn ON/OFF Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar

controls *BOTH*. It is an ON/OFF button for BOTH, the goal is to have one ON and the other OFF, not *both*.

Your link also talks about controlling both at the same time. So both ON or both OFF. We already know how to control both at the same time. That's not a problem to do.

I found a tutorial on You tube and did just what you suggested...worked like a charm. Thanks. I seem to remember you from the Vista forum. Were you there?
