How to Turn On or Off OneDrive Fetch Files on your PC in Windows 10
OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service where you can view, browse, upload, and share the files you saved online to OneDrive.
The OneDrive Fetch files feature allows you to access all your files on a PC from another computer by going to the OneDrive website. You can even access network locations if they're included in the PC's libraries or mapped as drives. When you browse a PC's files remotely, you can download copies of them to work on. You can also stream video and view photos in a slide show.
To access files on your PC remotely, make sure the PC you want to access is turned on and connected to the Internet. OneDrive also needs to be running on that PC, and the Fetch files setting must be turned on.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off using OneDrive to fetch files on your Windows 10 PC from any other PC.
You will need to be signed in to Windows 10 with a Microsoft account to be able to use the OneDrive Fetch files feature.
When you go to the OneDrive website on another PC to remotely fetch files on your PC, you will need to sign in to the OneDrive website with the same Microsoft account that you use to sign in to the PC that you want to fetch files from.
When you connect to a PC to fetch its files from the OneDrive website, you might be asked to enter a verification code if the PC you are on has not been added as a trusted device in your Microsoft account.
After July 31, 2020, you will no longer be able to fetch files from your PC. However, you can sync files and folders to OneDrive and then access those files from your web browser or your phone. To automatically sync the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders on your PC, you can turn on OneDrive PC folder backup.
EXAMPLE: OneDrive Fetch Files on your PC
Here's How:
1 Right click or press and hold on the OneDrivenotification area icon on the taskbar, click/tap on the menu (3 dots) button, and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)
If OneDrive is currently not running to show this icon, then run: %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe
2 In the Settings tab, check (turn on) or uncheck (turn off) the Let me use OneDrive to fetch any of my files on this PC box under the top "General" section, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

Anyone have fetch my files working today? I have spent almost all day and I just cannot get it to work. I always get "OneDrive can't connect to "xxxxxx"" message. It is like my PC is not even on even though it is. I have gone as far as to do a clean install of 15063 and I did all the updates to 15063.540 and then setup OneDrive with fetch my files and still no dice. So I by passed my router and connected directly to my cable modem still same old message. Next I created a totally new MSA and setup Onedrive with fetch my files and the results are the same. Finally I left my PC on and went to the public library and I got the same results. I do not know what else to try. I got this to work years ago, but have not used it lately. It is not supposed to be rocket science, but today I think I might give rocket science a try. I think I would be more successful at that.

I just found out that Microsoft is dropping the OneDrive Fetch feature on July 31, 2020.
I wonder why.

Thank you for the heads up. Warning about this added to tutorial.I just found out that Microsoft is dropping the OneDrive Fetch feature on July 31, 2020.

Depends on how many times it does it and how many files are involved
Resource issues bandwidth would be a main issues just checking file matches.... repeatedly
