FYI for anyone still having trouble: This does not seem to work with Online Only files from OneDrive. I successfully merged "Add_Open_Location_context_menu.reg" with the registry on my Windows 10 PC and rebooted. I ran a search of my OneDrive folder, but when I right-click on files that are not "Always Available" from OneDrive, then there is no option to "Open File Location" as shown in this screenshot...
It seems that a file must be available offline from OneDrive for the "Open File Location" command to appear on the Right-Click context menu. If anyone knows a fix for this, please let me know. I do not have enough hard drive space to download all of my files from OneDrive.

Hello @Technostud,
I'm afraid the context menu item will not work for cloud locations, and will only work for locations on the local computer and local network.
Hi @Brink,
After trying this I now undestand that this covers the already available by default option in some contexts, including search results, but only in the initial listing of search results. Is this correct?
What I was looking for was adding this option for after going into a folder in search results. As you know if you double-click on a folder in the initial search results listing, Windows doesn't open it's location, but instead navigates to some search string. It's in that state that I wuold like to have the "Open file/folder location" option, and I'd be ok with adding that option always visible for files/folders no matter the context, if that's what it takes. Do you think that is possible?
Alternatively, do you know of any way of making windows default to "Open folder location" when double clicking a folder in the search listing?
Thank you!
Hello HastalaHasta,
Correct, this context menu is there by default in Windows 10.
Usually, this context menu will only be available when you right click or press and hold on a shortcut of a file, shortcut of a folder, file or folder in search results, or a file or folder in a library in File Explorer.
Normally, if you open a location in the search results, you will not have this context menu available since you already opened its location. If you like, go ahead and post a screenshot showing what you're seeing to see if it may be possible to add this context menu there.
Hey, thanks for taking teh time to reply!
I'm seeing just the vanilla Explorer stuff, as in the contents of teh folder I went to and a search string in the address bar instead of a path(sidenote: I always found it silly that one can't paste that string in a new Explorer window and go from there). Whether the folder I wen to contains only files(just one file, in case of my picture) or files and folders, I would like to be able to right click on any item and "Open file/folder location". And I'm sure I'm not the only one :)
Even if this can't be setup conditionally to only show in that context, I would be ok with having that context menu item all the time and on all files/fodlers, even if it doesn't make sense when browsing normally. It could equate to hitting ctrl+n, and so, if it always opened a new window, it would make more sense.
Thank you!
