    Thanks but the only time I ever use anything other than Small icons view is when I need to look at Categories view to understand what a TenForums user has posted about.

    So I just have both shortcuts [Small icons, Categories] in my menu system [Taskbar Toolbars] and use whichever I want.

    You could also use the same tutorial below in Windows 10 to specify the Control Panel to always open in icons view by default.

    It will still open to the same large or small icons as last closed though.
