    Hello Necro, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    I'll do some testing later tonight, and will get back with you.

    @Necro,

    I just finished testing in W10 v1803 to see if anything may have changed, and it's still working for me.

    Did you sign out and sign in afterwards to apply?

    Just to note, if the account you're restoring the Start layout to doesn't have an app installed that is in the backed up layout, its tile will not show on Start.

    Hi @Brink and thanks for the answer!

    I have backup and restore several times in 1709 with success, since this is the only tutorial i found to really work! I'm also aware that apps not installed wont show on the restored layout.

    Maybe the issue is that i'm trying to restore a saved 1709 layout and restore it on a 1803 version? Can you test it because i don't have any machines on 1709, but will try as you did, backup and restore on a 1803 version.

    Thanks again!

    Edit: I was able to test again and here are my findings:
    - Restoring a layout from 1709 to 1803 won't work
    - Restoring a layout from 1803 to 1803 works!

    I compared the code lines of both files but didn't see anything at first glance that caught my attention, but maybe there is a way to successfully import a previous 1709 layout to the latest 1803 version?

    @Necro,

    What build from 1709 was the backup created on?

    If it was to old, that could be an issue since there was a lot changes made since then to 1803.

    @Brink,
    i don't know the build number and couldn't find it in the saved backup files, but i'm sure it was an updated build, right before the 1803 update maybe. My saved files are from the end of March of this year and were created on an "always updated" machine :)

    It looks like there was something changed then that prevents a start layout from an older version to be restored in 1803.

    @Brink,
    i think that too... Oh well, at least we know it works! I think i'm going to have to restore the layout to a 1709 version, update to 1803 and then make a backup again

    Thanks again!
