Well, at least that helps to confirm your account is set to en-150.

    Hi Shaun

    Hope you're well buddy!
Assuming I already have the language pack I need installed.
    If I run "Dism.exe /Online /Set-AllIntl:en-gb"
Would that work to set the default?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hey mate,

Looking at the Microsoft document below, that command should work for you.

Hi, I just noticed a strange setting in the Registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\LanguageConfiguration

    Name: nl-NL
    Value: en-US

I live in Belgium, the Dutch speaking part (nl-BE), and when I downloaded/installed the latest Windows version I noticed that the language was set to Dutch - Netherlands. There was no option to select another language during installation so I continued. ..

Afterwards I installed the en-US language pack.

Can someone more knowledgeable than me check if these settings in the screenshot below look normal?

    Hello Carlo,

This is normal since Belgium (nl-BE) / Dutch (nl-NL) was the installed OS language, and you installed the en-US language pack.

    Hi Shaun,

    Background for my problem:
I bought a desktop computer from Germany. It came with Windows 10 pre-installed and with German localization (de-DE). I have changed the UI language to en-US so now I can actually use my system since I speak or write no German!

    My problem:
When I boot to Advanced Startup options from Settings in Windows (Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Restart now under Advanced startup), it opens with all text in English (good!).
If I then click > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt, it switches to German, and asks to select a user account and enter the password, all in German.
When I then exit Command Prompt and it returns to the Advanced Startup options, this time all text is in German in the Advanced Startup options and stays in German until I boot back to Windows.

I have a similar problem when I boot from the Recovery Drive that I have created. In this case everything (all text) is in German.

    My question:
How/where can I change the language in Advanced Startup when opened from Settings in Windows?
And how/where can I change the language in the Recovery Drive?

By the way, this switching to German in Advanced Startup does not occur if I boot from a WIM USB and from there enter Advanced Startup. I assume because when you create a WIM, you specify the language for the WIM, which in my case was en-US.

Thank you for your time Shawn!

    Hello Seto,

Double check using the tutorial below to see if you changed all the settings in it to the English you wanted. Be sure you check both boxes at step 9.

Thanks Shawn - but I have checked/double-checked all steps in that tutorial and "English (United States)" is shining everywhere.

I have gone even one step further.
    The Registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language
    was showing:
    Default REG_SZ 0409
    InstallLanguage REG_SZ 0407

I changed InstallLanguage from 0407 (de-DE) to 0409 (en-US) and it is still switching to German in Advanced Startup!

If you have no other ideas/suggestions, I will give up and use only the WIM USB.
    Thank you.
