    I watched both videos. I did everything like in the videos in Hyper-V but I want to install this customized Windows 10 installation on one of our Lenovo ThinkPad tablets. In the video there is no explanation how to install the installation on another device with a USB flash drive.

    I'm doing this for the first time and I need help. :)
    Second video (Part 2) at 16:30, almost at the end of the video:
    • Double click the VHD where you have the system image (in video it was created with Macrium, you can of course use any imaging software)
    • Copy the image to where you want to, for instance to a USB flash drive
    • Boot the computer you want to deploy this image to with your imaging software's boot / rescue disk
    • Restore the image from USB flash drive

    It couldn't be much simpler.

    My previous post reminded me about the questions I have received about this method, why I am using Macrium to capture the image and restore / deploy it and not available professional tools.

    This tutorial like all content on Ten Forums is intented to normal private users. On Saturday we had a Ten Forums live event where I demonstrated the whole process; there's no point in posting a recording from that meeting because the whole process can already be seen in both videos in the beginning of this tutorial, but I'd like to post three slides I used in that live event:

    This tutorial is great, the problem I have ran into is activating it with our Windows 7 Upgrade key. If I use the key right off the side of each machine it activates windows just fine but our volume upgrade key doesn't seem to work. Any ideas why this is? Am I going to have to use a different tactic on these machines?

    First, I am sorry for delayed reply.

    Reading your thread I understand that your issue is this:
    • Existing computers are running Windows 7
    • They can be upgraded one by one to Windows 10
    • A clean install using your VLK does not work

    You mentioned the amount of computers waiting to be migrated to Windows 10 being between 100 and 150. Considering that amount I assume you are using image deployment instead of traditionally installing machine by machine. If that's the case, here's some pretty important information about the procedure (quote from Volume Licensing Reference Guide Windows 10, page 6) :

    Windows licenses available through Volume Licensing are upgrade-only licenses. They do not replace the base, “qualifying” licenses for operating system software that comes preinstalled on new PCs. Each PC that runs the Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise upgrade must first be licensed to run one of the qualifying operating systems identified below—otherwise the PC will not have a valid, legal Windows license. If you don’t have a preexisting license for a genuine, qualifying operating system on your PC, see the Get Genuine Options section in this guide.

    Each of these conditions must be met in order for a base PC to be eligible for an upgrade license:
    • Software under the qualifying operating system license must already be installed on the device to which you will assign the Volume Licensing upgrade. See the chart below of versions that are eligible for upgrade.
    • You must remove the existing qualifying operating system from the device in order to deploy the Volume Licensing upgrade license, unless the device or user is covered by Windows Software Assurance.
    • If you who want to install or run more than one licensed operating system at one time (including the qualifying operating system) you have the option to attach Windows Software Assurance to your Volume Licensing upgrade license.

    The only advice I can give is to carefully read through the above mentioned reference guide and if any issues remain, contact the Microsoft Partner where you bought the VLK.

    I have used the guide and have been successful with getting systems up and set up how I need them. I have, however, come across an issue where on 64-bit machines, Internet Explorer doesn't quite work correctly. It seems to be based around on how Java and Flash are handled. Only when running IE as admin can you use Java and Flash as they are supposed to.

    Any insight on as to why this could be?

    With no additional information about what you mean with "IE not working correctly" it's impossible to answer. I have not noticed any strange behaviour in IE, although I have to tell that I never install Java, refusing to use any services or sites requiring it.

    We have the same issue as described in the following thread, and there is no answer to that one either....

    Trouble with Windows 10 system image - made with sysprep audit mode - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

    Particularly similar issue as this post:

    We are experiencing exactly the same issue. The reason sites other than Java fail (at least in our tests) is that Flash fails as well. I am not going to argue the pros & cons of Flash or Java. Some of our users require Java for web apps and many pages still use embedded Flash resulting in the browser hang that mschirad is seeing.

    We tested the Sign in to Online Banking link that mschirad provided and we have the same issue.

    Apparently we both have something missing or wrong in our unattend.xml file or within the audit process. Here is our unattend.xml file. Let us know what we're missing.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
    <settings pass="specialize">
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <CopyProfile>true</CopyProfile>
    </component>
    </settings>
    <cpifflineImage cpi:source="wim:X:/sources/install.wim#Win 10 RTM Professional" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
    </unattend>

    We can sysprep normally using the 10240 build, but anything newer causes the Flash/Java issue as described above.

    I am afraid I am not able to give you any explanations or suggestions. The post in that other thread you referred to, maybe you noticed I have posted two screenshots about that particular banking site using IE and Edge in last post before that, both working without issues on my heavily customized Windows, sysprepped with an answer file longer than some short stories, with COPYPROFILE set to TRUE.

    I have none whatsoever clue why IE is acting weird for you.

    Ok...thanks. We'll keep trying with a newer build and use the tutorial you have provided.
