Windows 10: Customize Windows 10 Image in Audit Mode with Sysprep
Is the Start Menu customization with CopyProfile like in Windows 8.1, where only the Pro version connected to a domain and the Enterprise version (whether connected to a domain or not) support copying the Start Menu layout with CopyProfile?
That was the first thing I tried when I got the Windows 10 ISO from MVLSC (somehow I knew the start menu would be troublesome..!), and couldn't get the same process to work. By 'same process' I mean, Copyprofile.xml in Sysprep folder prior to capturing and the same xml file in the unattend settings in an SCCM task sequence. No luck there. So I tried following this article, and it was only partially successful... still not giving up yet though! : Start layout for Windows 10 desktop editions - Windows 10 hardware dev
Just tried it. Works for me.
Which version of Windows are you using?
Windows 10 Image - Customize in Audit Mode with Sysprep
Hello, I am new here...
I have looked in various forums in Brazil and I have found solutions. Almost nobody talks about the subject. Conducting research on creating custom images of Windows outside of the country. I have encountered with this discussion forum. I face the same problem as you in the implementation of the Sysprep with CopyProfile in Windows 10. Everything is as well, however the search bar does not work after user input.
Someone has already found a solution?
I would also like to inform the person who is having difficulties in generating a catalog with the SIM from an image of Windows 10: it is necessary to convert to the format *.wim default editable. In spite of the image appears as "install.wim" she actually is of type *.ESD and the SIM the current ADK still does not recognize this format.
Do not know if there is another form of conversion. I used the NTLite to convert the file install.wim for the format *.wim default editable and I could generate catalogs with the SIM, assemble, modify and remove the image with DISM.
Sorry I am not very good with the English! Grateful for the attention.
Hi, to convert install.esd to install.wim try this:
Deployment Research > Research
it works for me
An easy way to create an ISO image from the ESD file: ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Windows 10 Forums
When done you can simply mount the ISO and copy the install.wim.
I have some problems to create a windows 10 custom image for deploy it in my organisation.
I have open this thread yet:
Sysprep and default apps and windows apps crash - Windows 10 Forums
Now, my Windows 10 custom is perfect on my reference computer in audit mode. Windows is activate. It's an Windows 10 updated since a Windows 8.1 with iso . If I try to install Windows 10 with clean install, not update, windows cannot be activate ! (Acer PC with UEFI, licence MSDM). All is customized as I wish. When I use sysprep /generalize /oobe /reboot /unattend:f:\copyprofile.xml , everything is ok, my new user have his desktop customized with apps and more. And windows is activate on this reference pc. Fine !
But if i try to make an image with this command in windows pe mode (this is how i did when i deployed windows 8.1 on my organization and works fine !): Dism /Capture-Image /ImageFile:y:\my-system-partition.wim /CaptureDir:c:\ /Name:"My system partition"
My image is create, I export it on a new pc, everything is ok, but, windows cannot be activate, license is blocked ! If i reinstall windows 8.1 on it, no problem ! If I export my windows 10 image, blocked !
How can I use my custom image to deploy it an all my new pc ?
To use the free upgrade you MUST run the upgrade from within win 8 on each pc first and make sure EACH pc is activated FIRST then you can deploy your image.
this is the only way? but it's too long... i cannot do this for all my new PCs...
The extension of the downloaded images with mediacreatortools is in the *.wim format. Despite this, the NTlite shows that they are of type ESD. That's why the application System Image Manager of ADK cannot generate a catalog.
I used NTlite to convert the wim image isolated directly to the standard format editable.
The mediacreatortools application downloads the normal Windows 10 ISO. That's the image I'm talking about. The images downloaded by Windows Update, that are in the format install. ESD and contains the setups (x86) and (x64) and Windows PE.
