I think I found what was throwing me off!!!

The programs I am working with are 32bit programs installed on a 64bit PC So the registry key to enable those on startup for all users is:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\Run32 (instead of the Run key)

I didn't check but I would assume it would be the same path as above for single user as well!
Thank you SOOOO much for this piece!!! Needed this for a Citrix Receiver 4.4 issue!

I walked through all steps and still couldn't find a solution.
I have Win10 Creators Update (1709) 64bit. Ever since I updated I have a problem with utorrent is starting with Windows. It starts occasionally - not every time. It looks like utorrent is starting with windows if I used it a previous day.
Checked with utorrent settings - NOT set to start with windows.
    used autoruns app frof sysinternals.
I checked manually task manager and startup folder,
In settings app - I dont have this new option -startup on the left side as displayed in tutorial.
I checked every startup location in registry from this tutorial, also in StartupApproved, and there are no utorrent item. So where is this setting hidden?

I would think maybe you might have missed it somewhhere. Autoruns or a registry search for "utorrent" should find it. You could try uninstalling it with Revo Uninstaller and scan for leftover items, that usually removes all traces of the app.

So I saved Autoruns result in txt file and still dont find utorrent or torrent. As if it is hidden under some other name? And uTorrent is still runing when computer starts. This started to happen after last windows creators update, its probably related to windows, I am surprised some other users dont have the same problem.

Sorry you haven't found it yet, it must be some variant of uTorrent. You probably already tried scanning with Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, HitmanPro, Hijackthis, etc. If you don't use restore points or images you are probably headed for a repair or reinstall of W10.

I’ve been testing, I have Spotify as a desktop app And I can remove the startup entry with all of the above including ccleaner. Now I deleted Spotify desktop version and got the store app version and the startup entry is no where to be found. Yes you can disable it but cannot delete the entry. where is the startup entries for store apps?
