Thanks, Brink. I never noticed the 'more details' dialogue in the lower left corner. All's good now! :)

    perhaps? (Not tried it myself).

And regarding your startup - there are programs that allow you to set the order of startups and add a delay.
Winpatrol (perhaps now discontinued- there was a problem), Bootracer.. others..

    dalchina,

Thanks but "No. I just thought of Task manager." was in response to a particular suggestion and meant No. I just thought of Task manager and am not particularly interested in looking for a third-party application to do the job instead of using Task manager.

I'm happy with the solution I posted in #16 to start Task manager at Login [the problem having been defined in my post #14] .
    - That 2004 TechRepublic suggestion does not work for Windows 10 because elevated jobs cannot be run at Startup in Windows 10.
    - Task manager does not obey normal rules when starting up automatically anyway so pre-selection of the option to run minimised has an unexpected outcome.
    - My solution opens Task manager minimised to a Taskbar item at what seems to any casual observor to be startup [but is actually Login] and it then needs to be double-clicked on to minimise it to the System tray.

    All the best,
    Denis

But you can't delay startup with task manager if you wanted to that, can you?

    Anyway, good luck.

    dalchina,

I have a horrible feeling that we are talking at cross-purposes.
    - My Task manager starts automatically without calling for Admin permission when I reboot and that is what I wanted. Task manager's peculiarities prevent me from having it start in the System tray as I wanted but I only have to double-click its Taskbar icon to achieve that.
    - I have no need to consider delaying anything and I do not know what purpose that would serve anyway.
    - And then you wish me luck with something that has been running successfully for almost three years. It's very nice of you but it implies that you think something is still being developed.

    All the best,
    Denis

One of my typical "accidental finds while looking for something else" Shawn:
    C:\Windows\System32\LaunchTM.exe
Good for incase any malware(or not so cautious mucking around with the system, like I do) nukes the hard and soft links to it, I guess.

Thank you Cliff. Great find. Now added as Option 6.

    A First Post

I am very untechnical but am trying to learn and so have joined.

I also have hidden neurological disabilities - dyspraxia and dyslexia - so what may seem obvious to others may not be to me and also I have difficult following complex systems because I have short term "working memory" difficulties.

    Now to my point.

I am trying to set my PC so it automatically opens up Task Manager at Start Up & I have already read different advice about this and am getting interested as the previous advice I read gaves insigh into all sorts of aspects of my PC , insights which are probably very familiar with most of your readers.

So I came to review what you say and read your tutorial and got as far as ..... "Task Manager can be used to view and manage your processes, performance statistics, app history, users, processes details, and services in Windows 10.

Starting with Windows 10 build 16215, you will notice UWPs......."

AND I was flummoxed .. because I have no idea what a "UWP" is .... it is probably so basic .. that maybe I would have been better just seeking it out . but I thought ... maybe you want to be easily understandable to folk such as me. in which case PLEASE never use Acronyms/Initialisms, at least not unless you have explained them on first use in an article.

So please what is a "UPW"?

Thanks if you do choose to answer and please forgive me being a long winded pedant ... Happy New Year.
