How to Add or Remove 'Copy To folder' and 'Move To folder' Context Menu in Windows 10

When you press and hold or right click on selected file(s) and folder(s) and click/tap on Copy To folder, it will copy them to a location you select immediately.

When you press and hold or right click on selected file(s) and folder(s) and click/tap on Move to folder, it will remove them from their current location and move them to a location you select immediately.

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove Copy To folder and Move to folder to the context menu for all users in Windows 10.

While you must me signed in as an administrator to be able to add or remove "Copy To folder" and "Move to folder" to the context menu, all users will be able to use the context menu if added.

To also Copy file(s) regardless of the source and target destination, hold down the CTRL key while you drag and drop the file(s).

To also Move file(s) regardless of the source and target destination, hold down the SHIFT key while you drag and drop the file(s).

The default location for Copy to folder and Move to folder is in the Home tab in the ribbon of File Explorer. You could click/tap on Choose location to see the "Copy Items" or "Move Items" dialog.

Shawn quick question for you, I am working on a Windows 7 home machine for a friend. Going to update it later to Win 10 Home.
Can I use your "Copy To folder' and 'Move To folder" reg addon's on his Windows 7 home computer, until I update it to 10 ??

Hi Brink, is there possibly a way for a "send shortcut to" option in the context menu? So I can send a shortcut of any file or folder to any location I want?

    Hello Bob, :)

The only option that I'm aware of for now is to use "Send to" -> "Desktop (create shortcut)", then move it to where you like.

Been doing that for a while but gets annoying when you have to send multiple shortcuts to different locations.

    Thanks anyway :)

    Hi Brink,

The remove .reg file doesn't remove the copy to entry for me.

    Could you help me?

Hello 3ct, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

I don't see any issues with the .reg file for why it won't remove the "Copy To Folder" context menu item for you.

If you like, open Registry Editor (regedit.exe), and navigate to the key below to see if you still have it. If you do, right click on the {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} key, click on Delete, and click on Yes when prompted to approve deleting it.
