Are you able to run the SFC scan from within Windows 10?

But need to run from boot CMD, to check files in use when windows launched......having problems with activation, in another thread, if you can offer any advice please ?

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files KB929833 was updated last year and now advises the use of Dism before running SFC.

So you might wish to amend Option 3 to reflect the new guidance.

By the way, the new version explicitly acknowledges that DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth uses WU to find replacement files. So that's progress.

I still only like to run DISM if SFC failed.

That's ok. You would use the "C" drive letter for both in the command since that's all you have.
