    Hello Vivek,
This would be from the "C:\hiberfil.sys" file that hibernate uses. The file uses 75% of the total amount of RAM installed on your computer. :)
This is very interesting Brink, I didn't know that. So, on computers with low ram, (I'm on using 4gb on my 3 your old laptop), I would be wise to stop using the hibernate? Windows 10 removed hibernate after I accidentally ran my laptop down to 5% and it was missing upon restart.

Should I just not use hibernate? Is it OK to just shut down the laptop when finished with it, say for an hour, then turn it back on? I am using an SSD if that matters for the answer.

    Thanks...

    Hello @Probe,

It's more of a personal choice if you want to disable hibernate or not. It just depends on if you use it or not. If not, then yeah I would disable it to free up the hard drive space it reserves.

I have always used hibernate, but after reading about how much ram it occupies, I may stop. I was just wondering about the "full shut down" and turning back on, if that would shorten the life of the components (electronics) of the computer. Always was a big debate over that if I remember...

Hibernate doesn't use up RAM like that. That reference was for how much hard drive space it uses for the "C:\hiberfil.sys" file by default instead. By default, it uses 75% of how much RAM you have for drive space.

    Sorry for the confusion.

OK, no problem. I wonder why Windows removed "Hibernate" after I let the laptop run down to "nothing". I think I read the MS doesn't want us using Hibernate.

I guess I'll re-enable it. It comes in very handy if you're working on a lot of "stuff" and don't want to close it all out, if you need to leave the computer for awhile.

Agreed. Hibernate can be very useful for that.

If the battery gets critically low, it will shut down by default instead of hibernate.

Not sure if this is correct Tut. for this,
Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 10-hibernation-file.png
I'm not sure why this is here, I do not have hibernate enabled in any power/shutdown settings, fast startup also off, no hiberfil.sys
    anywhere (checked hidden).
How do I delete/clean it to save some extra space.

    Hello @paulco,

Disabling hibernate using an option in the tutorial will delete the hibernation file (hiberfil.sys).
