    Hello Brink,

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I tested Option Two and confirmed that it does indeed work (well, at least for me). My edition of Windows is Windows 10 Professional, x64, April 2018 update.

In order to test, I opened the Registry Editor, and went to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and the value ShowTaskViewButton was not present at all ( and this is a fresh install ). So what I did was to add a "New DWORD Value" by hand. Then, as I wanted to hide the Task View button, I set the value data to zero. Then, I used Task Manager to restart Windows Explorer. And when it restarted, the Task View button went away.

    Thanks again!

    Yours,

    Brian

You're most welcome Brian. Thank you again for letting me know about Option Three.

Hello Brian, and welcome to Ten Forums.

It appears that Option Three no longer works, so I have removed it.
Great, thank you. I ended up doing Option Two and that one seems to work just fine.

    Hi Shawn,

The first REG DELETE command you have in both BAT files in Option Two, which deletes the Enabled DWORD, what is it supposed to do?

I ask because when I ran the Hide BAT file I got the error:
The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.

So then I went into Registry Editor and the sub-keys "...\MultiTaskingView\AllUpView" indeed do not exist on my system and therefore neither does the Enabled DWORD.

I then experimented a little: I manually created these sub-keys under "...\Explorer" and added the Enabled DWORD.
I set the Enabled DWORD to 0 and to 1, but this had no effect on showing or hiding the task view button: the task view button switched between showing and hiding only with the ShowTaskViewButton DWORD value, which is the second REG command in the BAT files in Option Two.

In other words, whether the Enabled DWORD exists or not and what value it has when it does exist, has no effect on showing or hiding the task View button.

Should the REG DELETE command in both BAT files be deleted? or changed to something else?
    Thank you for your attention.

    Hello,

The REG Delete part is to make sure a registry value used from a previous version of Windows is removed in case it's there to prevent it from interfering with the current setting.
