    Under Additional Power settings which is an underlined link, you find what happens when I close lid, there you see a link to click on for options that are unavailable, click that...

    Ok found it, all options are checked, but they're greyed out at the moment.

    PS I'm using an Administrator account.

    You should see another link to click Change settings that are currently unavailable...

    Ok, unchecked Fast Startup.
    Gonna reboot now & check it out.
    I'll report back, good or bad...

    I'm back, rebooted, logged into to my Microsoft account but encountered the same problem, not able to fix...
    One positive note tho, System Restore listed several restore points, so we're making progress

    What is your install media? Do you have a Macrium backup?

    I use Acronis True Image (2016) as my main backup utility, Acronis is not installed, I have it on a DVD.
    But not so long ago I installed Macrium Reflect (free edition) to be able to restore the VSS service.

    PS I also have the latest Windows version on an USB, made with the Media creation tool..
