Having individual recent folders show up in quick access is a nice option to have, but I prefer the "recent places" approach of Win81, which was a single folder in favorites that you clicked that opened up to recent folders.

Do you know how to add that? It's easy to add "Recent items," as that's just a shortcut to:
    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items

But Recent Places is apparently a filtered view of "Recent items" showing just folders.

Isn't there a directory where the links are stored similar to Taskbar and Start Menu?

Yes, the "Recent Folders" link was what used to be so handy before Win10. Getting that, a "special" folder, to appear either in Quick Access, or anywhere else that's handy in File Explorer, is going to require another trick that I haven't found yet.

    Hey mate, :)

You could unpin the folder from quick access to remove it.

    Desktop will not unpin.

I don't want or need the Desktop folder link in my Quick Access, yet every time I unpin it from Quick Access it's back again within a day or two. Any idea why this keeps happening?
